Safety guide
Buying and connecting safely on GoPing
GoPing helps people discover listings and connect with advertisers. When buying, selling, renting, hiring or making arrangements through an online listing, take reasonable precautions.
A listing on GoPing does not by itself guarantee the identity, condition, ownership or accuracy of an advertiser or their offering. Always verify important information independently before making a payment or entering into an agreement.
1. Check the listing carefully
Read the complete listing before contacting the advertiser. Look at the description, photos, price, location, contact information, seller or business details, and any terms mentioned. If something seems unclear or inconsistent, ask for clarification.
2. Ask questions before deciding
Ask about condition, availability, exact location, price, included features, ownership, documents, warranty or service history, payment terms, and delivery or collection arrangements. A genuine advertiser should be able to provide relevant information.
3. Verify the advertiser
Before a significant transaction, verify who you are dealing with. For businesses and professionals, check available business information independently. For high-value purchases such as properties and vehicles, request and verify relevant ownership and legal documents. Do not rely solely on information in an online listing.
4. Be careful with advance payments
Be cautious if someone pressures you to pay immediately before you have verified the transaction. Be particularly careful with requests for advance payments, security deposits, registration fees, processing fees, OTPs, bank or card details, or personal identification documents.
Never share your OTP, PIN, password or banking credentials with another person. If a deal seems unusually cheap or someone creates urgency to make you pay quickly, take a step back and verify everything.
5. Meet safely
- Choose a safe and appropriate location
- Consider meeting during the day
- Let someone you trust know where you are going
- For valuable items, consider taking someone with you
- Inspect the item or property before making payment
- Avoid carrying unnecessary cash
6. Inspect before you pay
- Vehicles — check the vehicle, documents, registration details and relevant history
- Properties — visit the property and verify ownership, documents, location and permissions
- Products — check condition, functionality and authenticity where applicable
- Services — understand what is offered, the price and the terms before paying
7. Keep records
For important transactions, keep records of listing details, messages, receipts, invoices, agreements, payment records and relevant documents. For higher-value deals, use appropriate written agreements.
8. Watch out for common scams
- Prices that seem too good to be true
- Pressure to pay immediately
- Requests to move the conversation elsewhere without a clear reason
- Fake payment confirmations
- Requests for OTPs or banking credentials
- Fake identity or business information
- Unusual fees or refusal of reasonable verification
- Links asking you to enter sensitive information
- Someone claiming to represent GoPing and requesting money or account credentials
GoPing will not require you to share your personal password, banking PIN or OTP with another person. Never share these details with an advertiser, buyer, seller or anyone claiming to represent GoPing.
Property, vehicles and jobs
For property: visit the property, verify the owner or authorised representative, check ownership documents, understand the agreement and payment terms, and seek professional or legal advice when appropriate. Do not transfer substantial amounts solely because of an online listing.
For vehicles: inspect personally, verify registration and ownership documents, confirm the seller’s identity, check condition and history, and complete the required transfer process properly.
For jobs: be careful if someone demands money to guarantee employment, requests sensitive financial information, sends suspicious links, promises unrealistic salaries for little work, or pressures you to pay. A job opportunity should not require your banking credentials or OTP.
If something seems wrong
If you believe a listing is misleading, fraudulent, inappropriate or violates GoPing’s guidelines, avoid proceeding and report it. Include the listing title, URL, advertiser details, a description of the issue, and screenshots when possible.
You can also use the report option on a listing when available.
Remember
- Don’t rush — verify the person, product, property, vehicle, business or service
- Don’t share sensitive information — never share OTPs, passwords, PINs or banking credentials
- Don’t pay before verifying — especially for high-value transactions
- Don’t ignore warning signs — if something feels suspicious, stop and investigate
